Unit 1 Week 1 -Spelling and Vocabulary Words

The Pattern this week is a v/cv or a vc/cv pattern (v for vowel, c for consonant). This pattern dictates where the word breaks into syllables. When students learn and recognize syllable patterns, they also learn to decode unfamiliar words with these same patterns.

5. minute-                   a short period of time; 60 seconds long
6. neutral-                   describes the position of gears when they do not transmit motion from the engine to the wheels or other working parts
7. normally-                usually or regularly
